Joe Batty/Norris Griggs Mine    

Joe Batty, Oliver Twitchell's brother-in-law, started this mine in the late 1800's. Later, Norris Griggs owned the mine and leased it to O.M. Mitchell in 1907 for five years. The coal sold for $2.75 a ton.
